Philippines got their first gold medal from a weightlifter, Hidilyn Diaz, for 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

Diaz ruled in the ladies' 53 kg (kilogram) in weightlifting, on Tuesday, at the Jakarta International Expo. The 27-year-old pride of Zamboanga City counted a sum of 207 kg to prevail over Turkmenistan's Kristina Shermetova (206 kg) who came at second, and Thailand's Surodchana Khambao (201 kg) who wound up at third in the 12-lady field.

The Philippines' decoration pull currently remains at one gold and four bronze. She posted 92 pts in grab, and 115 in the quick lift.

Diaz caught her first profession Asian Games gold. She won a silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics. After her win, she called for more help for Filipino weightlifters.

President Rodrigo Duterte complimented Diaz in the wake of conveying a discourse at a meeting with metropolitan leaders in Cebu City. The Armed Forces is additionally pleased with Diaz, who is an airwoman top notch.
